Actually, all photos are uploaded to a temp folder and only moved to the public galleries by our fearless leader. You don't have to worry about where to put them, he does.
I have to agree that it could be organized a little better but when you start with nothing, it's hard to determine what you should start with so the galleries get added on the fly.
On my website, I keep a Members gallery, multiple event galleries and "submitted" photos that don't belong to either category. That makes it nice and clean but a lot of people like to have their own gallery or group.
It's something that will need to be addressed in the near future. Hammer the new president at the next meeting.
